The following projects have been undertaken by Hwedza Rural District Council in an effort to improve lives of communities in all wards.
Ongoing Projects
Chineyi Rural Clinic
Ward 12
The council has embarked on the construction of Chineyi Clinic to improve access to healthcare services for local residents. This project is expected to reduce long travel distances in search of medical care and bring essential health services closer to the community.
Road Rehabilitation
Ward 7
Council has maintained 1,046.4 km of the road network out of a total 1,144.08 km all wards, and the rehabilitation program is still ongoing. This initiative is aimed at improving accessibility, ensuring roads are trafficable at all times for communities.
Borehole Drilling Program
Multiple Wards
Council is in the process of siting boreholes in various wards to improve access to clean water. This is an ongoing project that will greatly reduce the burden of walking long distances in search of safe water sources. Once completed, the program will strengthen community health and resilience by ensuring reliable water supply across multiple wards.
Parking Bays
Hwedza Growth Point(2025)
Phase 1 with 18 parking bays was completed. The council is currently undertaking Phase 2 in the other parts of the Growth Point. This initiative is aimed at improving order, accessibility, and convenience for motorists and businesses in the busy centre. Once completed, the project will enhance the overall infrastructure and support the growth of local commerce.

Council Guard House
Council Offices(2025)
The council has completed the construction a guard house at the council offices. This initiative was aimed at improving security and monitoring access to the premises. It enhances the overall safety and operational efficiency of the council offices.
Garaba Clinic Borehole
Garaba
The council successfully completed the borehole drilling project at Garaba Clinic. This initiative now provides clean and reliable water for patients, staff, and the surrounding community. The project strengthens healthcare delivery and promotes better sanitation under the council’s development mandate.
Vamba Primary School
Ward 7(2024)
In 2025, Council successfully constructed a 2x2 classroom block at Vamba Primary School through a partnership with SOS. Additionally, 10 girl‑child friendly toilets were built at the school, providing improved facilities that have benefitted over 180 girls.
Dean Munyakwe Classroom block
Ward 7
The Rural District Council has successfully constructed a new classroom block at Dean Munyakwe Primary School. This development is easing congestion by providing a safer and more spacious learning environment for pupils. The project reflects the council’s commitment to improving education infrastructure and supporting the community’s future.
HRDC Boardroom
Council Offices(2025)
The Hwedza Rural District Council has successfully completed the renovation of its boardroom, marking a significant milestone in modernizing the council’s facilities. The improved facility is expected to enhance service delivery by enabling hybrid meetings, strengthening communication with regional partners, and providing a professional venue for workshops and community forums.
Madzimbabwe Clinic
Ward 10
The completion of Madzimbabwe also brought a major relief to ward 10 residents who have been walking for close to 14 km to the next clinic.
Tilita Health Centre
Ward 3(2023)
Tilita clinic has now reduced the more than 10 km walking distance in search of medical service by residents in ward 3, to the next clinic for health services.
Chad Guruswa Secondary
Ward 7
A new classroom block has been built at Chad Guruswa Secondary School. This development is helping to ease overcrowding and provide a more conducive learning environment for students. The project highlights the council’s ongoing commitment to strengthening education infrastructure and supporting local communities.
Tongogara ICT Block
Ward 7(2024)
The council has constructed a modern ICT block at Tongogara Primary School. This facility is designed to equip learners with digital skills, giving them access to computers and internet resources. The project demonstrates the council’s commitment to advancing education through technology and preparing pupils for a knowledge-driven future.
Hwedza Market Stalls
Hwedza Growth Point, Ward 15 (2024)
This initiative has enhanced the district’s economic activity by creating a safe, organized environment for business and community interaction. The stalls now stand as a visible achievement of council efforts to promote local commerce and improve livelihoods.
Sports Ground Ablution Facilities
Ward 15(2025)
The council has completed the construction of ablution facilities at the sportsground. This development provides modern sanitation services, ensuring cleanliness and convenience for athletes, spectators, and the wider community.
Sports Grounds Borehole
Ward 15(2025)
A solarized borehole was also drilled at the sportsground to provide reliable access to clean water. This addition complements the newly completed ablution facilities, ensuring that athletes, spectators, and the wider community benefit from improved sanitation and hydration.
